Samsung Ocean Mode
A smartphone camera mode that helps save the world’s coral reefs.
.
THE CHALLENGE
As climate change accelerates, coral reefs – vital to 25% of marine life and 1 billion people – are vanishing. To save them, scientists need millions of underwater photos to create accurate 3D maps of these ecosystems. But the ocean is a challenging place to photograph because of color distortion, low light and constant motion. And traditional DSLR camera rigs are bulky and expensive.
THE SOLUTION
Ocean Mode turns a Galaxy device into a compact, DSLR-caliber research tool, putting the power of reef imaging into more hands and empowering scientists and local conservationists to collect large volumes of high-quality photos faster, more affordably and with greater ease.
“If we can see it, we can save it.”
